Edge detection is process of segmenting image and detecting edges of the image by locating abrupt changes in intensity of image. Edge is the boundary between two disjoint regions of varying intensity.
Kernels used
- First Order Derivative Filters to detect thicker lines.[^1]
- Second Order Derivative filters to detect thinner lines as they produce greater filter response.
- to find maximum edge intensity in pre-determined locations and directions ,use Kirsch compass
To detect edges we must be able to connect the disjoint edges and we do this using the Hough Transform.
