The entire process of analysing and processing of digital image is divided into 3 phases: 1.
Forming Discrete/separate units, its storage and representation
- The visual image is first converted into its discrete digital form i.e pixel value is calculated for entire image for saving storage space.
- Time requirement for processing is also calculated before hand.
Processing of Image
- Filtering
- Compression
- Capacity of image sent during transmission.
Analysis of Image
- Extracting image features.
- Recognising shapes and structures in image , quantifying them.
